Center for School ReformOverview of Pioneer's CSR

The mission of Pioneer Institute’s Center for School Reform is to significantly improve the academic performance of elementary and secondary schools in Massachusetts through broad public dialogue, legislative outreach, and scholarly research. The Center promotes the free exchange of ideas related to academic excellence, competition, and data-driven approaches to public education reform, so that students, citizens, and the Commonwealth as a whole can compete globally.

The Center will generate practical ideas that public policy makers, individual schools, and school districts can implement. To that end, the Center will:

  • › Publish education research under Pioneer's White Paper and Policy Brief series that provides constructive recommendations to policy makers;
  • › Sponsor policy forums, conferences, and other events supporting education and school reform;
  • › Contribute opinions and commentaries to state and national newspapers; and
  • › Testify before the Massachusetts Legislature and state Board of Education on pending education reform issues.

The Center’s work is built on the premise that the central focus of the education system in Massachusetts ought to be to uphold its constitutional obligations to all our school children by increasing academic rigor, quality of expectations, and equality of educational opportunities.
