An annual contest open to all, the BGC seeks innovative, concrete ideas to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of government services in Massachusetts.

Since its inception in 1991, the Better Government Competition has saved Massachusetts citizens an estimated $400 million and has been replicated in several other states and countries.

Coming on the verge of Governor Patrick’s new Readiness Plan, Pioneer Institute’s 17th Better Government Competition Awards Dinner honored outstanding ideas in education reform.

The June 25th event, held at the Hyatt Regency Boston, brought policy leaders from around the Commonwealth together with keynote speaker, Washington D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee, and Former Massachusetts State Senate President Thomas F. Birmingham.
