More states adopt tax credits for school choice

The number of states that have adopted tax credit strategies to ensure that parents have a choice in where they send their kids to school is building–and fast. Ralph Conner of the School Reform News notes that Governor Bobby Jindal is the latest to secure passage of tax credit legislation:

The landmark legislation allows parents to deduct 50 percent of their children’s private school tuition–up to $5,000 per student–from their state income taxes, beginning in 2010. Homeschooling parents are eligible for the deduction, and all parents may deduct expenses for public and private school uniforms, textbooks, and school supplies.
