Enjoy your seat under the bus, Sheriff DiPaola

In a follow-up piece to their series on state payroll, the Herald tucks this little nugget into today’s installment:

But yesterday, a Patrick administration source, who requested anonymity, insisted most of the growth in the payroll is in higher education, the courts and the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department.

Hmmm, why the animus towards the good Sheriff?

One nugget that the Herald did leave out was the context that the growth in payroll was attributed ito low level employees such as: temporary summer youth camp counselors (high school kids); summer interns; and temporary correctional officers hired to alleviate overtime during the summer vacation periods and assist during a transition period of an unusual amount of retirements.

Where the animus comes from I don’t know but it does seem strange that the anonymous source uses generalities until the mention of the Middlesex Sheriff Office. I am sure the anonymous source was aware of this context and is equally guilty of leaving out the facts to, as the Herald is known for, make the news not report it!
