Open government is better government. Oregon State University developed an exemplary open-book accounting system for its campus, allowing anyone using an on-campus computer to examine all the institution's financial transactions. I never miss a chance to recommend it, and to suggest that every public institution ought to have something like it. That’s very good news that should be welcomed by everyone, liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican. Open government is better government.
